3K Walk

On Thursday last week the whole school went on a 3 mile walk around the town of Kilfinane as part of the schools effort to promote a healthy life style and a fun approach to exercise. All staff took part as well and the student body went in class groups. Everyone was given a safety vest and instructions were given by teachers before departure as to behaviour on the road and staying safe on the trip. The weather was fabulous and every one enjoyed the event.

This was part of the nationwide drive to encourage students and parents to incorporate exercise in to their daily routine by dropping off their child at designated drop off points around Kilfinane and allowing their child to complete their trip on foot to school. Students are also encouraged to cycle to school and a small number of students avail of this option.

It is the schools hope to repeat this walk in the last term of school and to also repeat the very successful Scoil Pól cycle day from last year. The cycle consists of two options – a family 10k cycle or a more adventurous 60k for the more experienced.
