Mr. Tomi Reichental Visits Scoil Pól 

On Thursday 8th of January 2015 Scoil Pól Kilfinane students, staff and the wider community were treated to a lecture by Tomi Reichental. Tomi, who is the recent recipient of the International Person of the Year Award, is a survivor of the Holocaust. Tomi recounted his early life in Slovakia, the impact of the Nazi racist policies on the lives of the Jewish population in Europe and his incarceration in the concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen, Tommy's story is an incredible account of bravery in the face of insurmountable odds. The audience, which included students and significant number of local history buffs, were enthralled and moved by Tomi's survivor story. 

After his lecture Tomi gave a question and answers session as well as signing copies of his book, "A Boy in Belsen". Tomi Reichental's remarkable story was complied in the film "Close to Evil", which was recently air on RTE. Scoil Pól would like to thank all who made this lecture possible, especially Tomi and his partner Joyce who travelled from Dublin on the day.
